Founded in 1991, Bell Shakespeare is Australia’s national touring theatre company and Shakespeare resource, presenting stage productions of Shakespeare plays and other classics and a wide range of education programmes in capital cities, regional centres and rural locations across the country. Our education programmes are the most accessible and far-reaching of any Australian theatre company, ensuring that the magic of Shakespeare has a place in every Australian community, no matter how remote or economically disadvantaged. Education initiatives include our Actors At Work in-schools programme, student and teacher workshops, our regional performance scholarship, our regional teacher scholarship, backstage work experience and our outreach programme to remote locations nationwide. Bell Shakespeare undertakes a variety of community access programmes, including Hearts In A Row, through which less privileged members of our community enjoy a special performance at Sydney Opera House.
