The Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) is dedicated to finding a cure for cancer, a devastating disease affecting one in three Australians. ACRF fills a vital gap in Australia, providing $1 million+ grants which have the potential to produce real breakthroughs, not provided for by State or Federal government grants.
The vaccine to treat and prevent cervical cancer, discovered by Australian of the Year, Professor Ian Frazer, was kick-started in 1999 by a grant from the ACRF when other funding avenues had been exhausted. In 2006 ACRF will award more than $10 million in grants to our leading cancer .
