Children First Foundation
Established in 1999, Children First Foundation is an organisation set up to support the humanitarian work of Moira Kelly, AO. The Foundation’s mission is to provide a safe haven for children, irrespective of race or creed, who are in need of medical or emotional support.
The Foundation has programs aimed at assisting children, both in Australia and overseas. The Foundation’s Miracle sMiles Program is the key means of assisting international children in need. This Program identifies children in developing countries suffering from debilitating illness, injury or deformity, and brings them to Australia for life-saving or profoundly life-changing surgery. Rehabilitation is then undertaken at the Foundation’s Farm at Kilmore. Donated and built by Rotary, and operated by committed volunteers, the Farm provides a loving and peaceful environment for the children whilst recuperating.
The Miracle sMiles Program has facilitated nearly 350 dramatically life changing medical procedures for children from the following countries: Albania, Bosnia, East Timor, Ethiopia, Iraq, Macedonia, Papua New Guinea, Palestine, Pakistan, Somalia, The Philippines, Tibet, Uganda and Tanzania.
This year the Foundation has launched two initiatives to help disadvantaged Australian children; Between the Gaps and gECHO.
The Foundation’s Between the Gaps program provides medical assistance to referred disadvantaged Australian children that require ancillary medical assistance.
