Purple Lion Inc
Purple Lion, is a not for profit charitable institution, who is working to raise funds for Innovative Developments in the Education of children with Autism (I.D.E.A) program. I.D.E.A. is a new approach to the education of children with autism in the mainstream school setting. Children with autism need educational options that develop skills in communication, socialization, behavior regulation and academic achievement. To do this, schools need specialist consultation from professionals with experience in the autism field, and a commitment to evidence-based teaching techniques. The I.D.E.A. Program is a multifaceted approach that will meet the academic, social and behavioral needs of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder regardless of their level of functioning. All services provided by the I.D.E.A. program will be underpinned with the philosophy of ABA, which is considered to be the most effective, evidenced based intervention for children with autism. The I.D.E.A. Program will offer families an education option for their children and a level of support to schools unlike any currently available. The I.D.E.A. program has launched in 2010 with the creation of the first ‘Foundation Room’ at Moomba Park Primary School in Fawkner, Victoria. The Moomba Park I.D.E.A. Foundation Room will have a universal function not only providing support and learning for each individual child but also building capacity through professional development of school staff, consultation, support and training to teachers and education support staff. Consultant professionals will provide initial and on-going training for staff. A full time teacher will coordinate the services throughout the school, under the guidance of the school principal and consultant professionals. The I.D.E.A. foundation room will also be staffed by a team of Behavioral Therapists. The services provided through the I.D.E.A. program, including professional development and consultation, will extend from the Foundation Room to network SSSO’s, network schools and kindergartens. A ‘sister’ relationship will be established with a local Secondary School to enable effective on-going support for students as they enter secondary education. The I.D.E.A. program is vital to the direction of the education of children with autism, it will present and opportunity of unparallel quality for many families schools and children. To support this program in 2010 Purple Lion needs to raise $177,000. Please call to donate..Th ...
