NSW Council for Intellectual Disability
The NSW Council for Intellectual Disability (NSW CID) is funded, primarily through the Department of Ageing and Home Care, to represent the rights and interest of people with intellectual disability in NSW. We believe people with intellectual disability have the same rights as other citizens. Our work involves consulting and capacity building with people with intellectual disability and their families, providing policy advice and working at systemic level to effect positive change in people’s lives. Our advocacy style is to engage constructively with governments and other agencies. We operate the ASKCID information service that incorporates a telephone information line, community education and the Jim McLoughlin Library, which are available to our members and others in the community.
